Liverpool Street, London Case Study

CLIENT: H. C. Wraxall and Co. Limited

LOCATION: Liverpool street, London

THE TASK: Aquacut Limited was contracted to provide laser templating and waterjet cutting services for a complex stone installation project at Liverpool Street, London. This ambitious project spanned multiple floors, specifically from the 6th to the 11th, and required precise measurements and custom-cut yorkstone pieces to form elegant curved areas.

SERVICE PROVIDED: Initial Site Visit Assessment, Laser Templating for Curved Areas & Waterjet cutting of 38mm thick yorkstone to form curved areas in radial form.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

On January 21, 2020, our team embarked on an initial site visit to assess the scope and intricacies of the project. It quickly became clear that this project would present several significant challenges:

  • Complex Curved Designs: The intricate curved areas demanded precise measurements and custom cuts.
  • Multiple Floors with Varying Layouts: Each floor had unique specifications, requiring tailored solutions.
  • Radial Cuts in Yorkstone: Achieving accurate radial cuts in Yorkstone, a material known for its durability and natural beauty, added to the complexity.

OUR PROCESS

Aquacut employed advanced laser templating technology to accurately capture the dimensions and curvatures of the installation areas. This data was then used to guide the waterjet cutting process, ensuring each stone piece fit perfectly into the designed layout.

The process involved:

  • On-site Laser Templating: We conducted thorough on-site measurements using laser templating to capture every detail of the curved designs.

  • Creation of Detailed Cutting Plans: These plans ensured that each piece of yorkstone was cut to precise specifications.

  • Precision Waterjet Cutting: Our waterjet cutting machinery provided the accuracy needed to achieve perfect radial cuts.

  • Clear Indexing: An organiSed indexing system allowed for efficient identification and installation of each cut piece.

Project Outcome

The Liverpool Street project culminated in a stunning and precise stone installation.

Key outcomes included:

  • Minimised Waste: Strategic cutting and the use of offcuts reduced material waste.
  • Accurate Radial Cuts: The yorkstone pieces followed the building’s curvature flawlessly.
  • Efficient Installation: The clear indexing system ensured a smooth and straightforward installation process.
The Liverpool Street project is a testament to Aquacut’s capability to manage and execute complex stonework projects that require high precision and custom cutting. Through the use of advanced laser templating technology and skilled waterjet cutting, we successfully met the challenging requirements, delivering a project that stands as a masterpiece of precision and craftsmanship.
